Well it's been 2 weeks ~ what have YOU been doing??

Well I haven't done anything "QUILTY in the last 2 weeks, that is so sad! I have been looking for piping for the Gummy Bear Pillow that will be going to Ireland, but the only things I have found so far are either UGLY, REALLY EXPENSIVE ..... or NYLON, which is not good for a cotton pillow. I will continue the search next weekend, and if I don't find what I am looking for I will just have to figure out something else.

Last weekend I was so excited about my upcoming knitting class, that I started watching some YouTube Videos. Between the memories of what Pat taught me when I was 7 or 8 years old and watching the videos I managed to start a scarf! OK so the first attempt from last weekend will NEVER be shown... however this is what I have right now, and I am pretty pleased with it!! I know it has issues on the sides, but hey ~ I am a beginner :-) I will probably ravel or rip it out after taking the class and make it a bit narrower, oh an use bigger needles!! The ones I am using now are 13 ~ I think I will go for a 17 on the re-do. The yarn is so very soft, I used Lion Brand Super Bulky #6. Not exactically sure what all that means ~ but it sounded pretty smart huh???!!!

Other than that the best part of the last 2 weeks.... actually the last 4 days, is that we have adopted a puppy from "Canines With A Cause" It is a Salt Lake based nonprofit organization. http://canines-with-a-cause.blogspot.com/ They also have a Face Book page http://www.facebook.com/#!/CaninesWithACause His name is Hank and he is just too darn cute for words! SMART... holy cow is he smart!!! I just started working with him on "sit" yesterday.... and he has it now! What comes next.... LOL I wish the house training was as easy!! Anyhow here is our boy, we love him to pieces already and I think he loves us too!

Right now he is sleeping under Doc's computer desk....I wonder how long he will fit under there?? In reading the paperwork from CWAC (Canines With A Cause) It looks like there MAY be a SLIGHT possibility that he is an Australian Shepherd/Huskey mix. That MIGHT explain the feet that are 2" across!! But whatever he is ~ he is ours now and forever. Thank you CWAC for rescuing our handsome boy, and picking us to adopt him!!! Oh and Friday night after our walk.... I thought I broke him for a while :-) I quickly found out that he was just totally relaxed.... a walk... massage.. and brushing tends to do this to him. Who would have thought???!!!

For now I will sign off ~ need to take our boy for a walk, and think quilty thoughts.

Have you have had a good week... have you been Crafty?

I got an interesting Email this past Thursday morning.
Turns out that a gentleman in IRELAND was looking at my website (my-time-2-quilt.biz)
He saw the pillow I made for Stacy back in 2008-2009 and wanted to know if I still had any "Gummy Bear Fabric" left. So looks like I will be making a Gummy Bear Pillow and sending it to Ireland. I think that is pretty darn cool!! Tomorrow after work I will start figuring out the pillow, I need to embroider a name on it and figure out where it will look best to have it, also need to find out if he wants it to say anything else ;-) Hopefully I will have it finished, or close to finished by next weekend so I can share it with you all.

Friday night I got the last 2 embroideries done on the Sock Monkey quilt, and this morning I finished the quilting and got the binding and label sewn on!! YIPPEE!!!! I will be giving it to Amber on 1/26 when she comes to the office for our monthly meeting. I am so excited to give it to her!!

Anyhow, the last bit of exciting news I have to share is that I signed up for a knitting class!!! I know, Doc said the same thing... WHY do you want to start something else when you have so many things to quilt??? Sorry I can't answer that ~ just my crafty self seeking something new to explore!! Class isn't till Feb 11 so you will have to wait and see what I am going to make.... LOL and since I am not sure myself, we will all be surprised!! But in my excitement I have been checking out You Tube Videos too..... maybe I WON'T wait till 2/11!

Hopefully you have been able to find something crafty and creative to work on, just have fun with whatever it is ~ life is too short to take EVERYTHING serious!!!

I haven't made as much progress on the Sock Monkey baby quilt as hoped. The top is all sewn together & is VERY CUTE, but I still have 2 more embroideries to do. My goal was to have the top completed by tonight INCLUDING the embroidery. OK so THAT isn't gonna happened. But here is what MY weekly craftiness looks like ~

This week is going to be a busy one for me, I have a co-worker following me home tomorrow night. We are going to start designing a signature quilt for her wedding in April. We need to come up with a design so I can get the amounts of fabric figured so she can start looking for what she wants. This will probably take at least 2 hours... maybe more.
I am HOPING to get another monkey done on Tuesday evening.
Haircut on Wed after work, LOL I needed it at least 3 weeks ago!!!!
Maybe the last monkey on Thursday evening??? I need to have them all finished by Saturday because I am meeting another co-worker at Joann's.
Remember the Pooh quilt?? Maria is the one that I helped with that quilt, she wants to make a quilt for friends who are having their first baby. The main color in the nursery is ORANGE!! I found some cute fabric at Joann's a while back (OK so it was not long after we moved to Utah 6 years ago) It's a really cute print, yellow background with orange, bright lime green, yellow and purple. The orange green yellow and purple are giraffes, and elephants ~ WAY CUTE!!! Anyhow while we are at Joann's getting the fabric for that quilt I will be looking for the backing for the Sock Monkeys. My GOAL for next weekend is to have the Monkeys loaded on the long arm by Saturday night and get it quilted on Sunday ~ OK so it is a lofty goal... but it is what it is right???!!!

Well I need to get to bed so I can get up and head to work. So much to do and so little time to get it all done :-)

I hope you all have had a Wonderful Holiday Season ~ And that this new year brings you all Helath & Happiness ~ a little extra $$ wouldn't be too bad either! ;-)

I have managed to get very few little crafty items done this week... not much but hey ~ I still have the rest of today to FINISH A QUILT! LOL Wish me luck!!!

Here is what I have done so far this week. 1) I had my sister Pat go through one of my FAVORITE web sites with her youngest Granddaughter Cayla. The Website I have mentioned before is embroiderydk.com For $6.00 a month you can download as many designs as you want for as long as you want ... AND every Saturday morning they put another 20+ designs on the site!!

Then while looking for embroideries for Sock Monkeys, I found another site that also gives wonderful service ~ gnrembroidery.com ~ this is the site I talked about last week. They are SOCK MONKEY CENTRAL!!!! Prices are GREAT and although I have only done 1 of the designs that I ordered on Christmas day which BTW I LOVE THEM!! (got them the next day via Email... THANKS RICHARD!!!!) So 2) Also for Cayla is

I have also started sewing the baby quilt together that I layed out last weekend. It is about 1/3 sewn... after finishing laundry today I hope to get more done on it. I had REALLY WANTED to get the embroidery done this weekend and get it loaded up.... not sure that will happened now!!! :-(

Well I better get moving ~ lots to get done and only the rest of today to do it all!! Send me pictures of what you are working on..... or just drop me a line ~ any input is appreciated!! I want to make this a FUN Blog!!

2011 Is coming to an end ~

As I have looked back through my Blog this morning I noticed that I have gotten away from the idea I had when I started this. Quilting is the reason I started ~ I wanted to share my passion with friends and family, keep you up to date on what I have been doing. Somehow it evolved into what Doc & I had been doing, the flowers that have bloomed, the weather, etc. Although I may briefly touch on these things in the future I will concentrate more on Quilting. What I have been working on or what I want to work on. I may even have class ideas I want to bounce around, or if you have any ideas I would love to hear from you. I have not taught a class in over a year, and I miss sharing what I know, and helping to pass the love of quilting to others. If you have any ideas on this ~ PLEASE SHARE!!!

So let me see, looks like the last time I posted any quilty info was back in June. Since then, I made a quilt for baby Emma, My #2/Friend/Co-worker,I met Maria when I Started working for Mountain Land Rehab. Maria is the one that I helped to make the Winnie The Pooh quilt fo her little man Ethan, now she has her beautiful little Emma... and Emma has this little quilt.

The other quilt I made was for a lady that lives in MA. She was vacationing in June here in Utah, saw my KSL ad and contacted me about making a quilt for her to give her husband for Christmas. I started out pretty doing pretty good with this one, then ran out of time so had to call for reinforcements!! Micki came over several times in Oct & Nov to help with the layout so I could just sew... and sew... and sew some more. Thanks for the Help Micki!!! The quilt I made for her turned out really great!! It is all flannel and toasty warm!!!

Then last night I started a Sock Monkey quilt ~ I had been looking for Sock Monkey Embroidery designs for a couple weeks. They were just sent via Email this morning, & I am REALLY EXCITED about starting on them. I did a rough layout for the fabric last night..... OK so I was up till 2AM working on the layout :-) but here it is so far, I will start doing an embroidery later today. My goal is to get just 1 wmbroidery done today, then pics next weekend :-) Let me know what you think :-)

First however comes finishing the laundry I started yesterday (yeah I know... it was Christmas) Maybe I will even start taking down & puttin away Christmas. I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday and are making fun plans for the new year.

More than a month has passed.....

Where is time going ~ My Mom was right when she told me that the older you get, the faster time flies! But then Mom was right about almost everything I think. How many of us ever thought that would be the case I wonder. Wow ~ I am being far to philosophical for my own good I think!! Enough of that!!

OK so June has arrived, and with it ... spring has finally sprung???

So with this bit of news .... the flowers blooming, weather warming, yard sales starting ~ I am finding that I want to be outdoors ...... but alas ~ I have much too much to do downstairs right now to partake in "outside stuff".

I have finished the last of the customer quilting for a while, the last one was picked up yesterday. She says she has another one but judging from what she brought with her yesterday it will be a while before I get it. So now I get to finish working on a baby quilt that I started a few weeks ago. The embroidery is finished ~ I just need to get that last row of blocks sewn together, and get me some backing. Not sure how I will quilt it yet but I have a little time to figure that out still :-) Aren't these the cutest little giraffes you ever did see???

After this quilt I have one to do for a baby girl that will be born in September ~ her name is Emma and she will have a VERY girlie quilt ..... full of birght pastels with cute little girl's embroidered all over it. Gonna be fun ~ next time I post there should be a pic of that and this one finished.

Then comes the curtains for Violets new bedroom :-) this should be fun as I have NEVER tried to sew with fabric this shear!!

Well I better get going ~ nothing is being finished with me sitting up here typing away ~

What's Happening in West Valley????

Happy first day of May ~
We woke up yesterday to about 4" of snow ~ WHAT'S UP WITH THAT???

Since the last time I wrote... what have I done... why do I feel like nothing is happening? I know I seem to be busy all the time, but right now my mind is a blank. NOT GOOD!

OK ok ~at work we did the presentation of the quilt to Carol. She was really surprised, and says she loves the quilt. Almost everyone that worked on the quilt was able to come and participate(even some non participants that just wanted to show their support). Courtney got us cheese and crackers to nibble on while we visited.

It's really nice working for a company where the employees really care about and want to support one another during good times and bad.

Next weekend we will be showing our support by doing the Susan G Komen "Race for the Cure" Through down town Salt Lake. So far there are 27 people on our team here in Utah. But there are more teams in other states, that are walking under the Brighton/Mountainland "Banner"

So wish us luck, this will be the second walk that Doc & I have participated in. Oh and if I talk to any of you this week.... remind me to take IBUPROFEN Friday night & Saturday morning :-) Believe me I will remember Sadurday afternoon, evening, Sunday.... Monday..... Tuesday etc. but it will be worth it!! If you have never done a cancer walk ~ you need to at least once in your life!

Now on to other things I guess ~

Here is my latest quilt, I work with the Mommy to be. This is her first baby. She picked out the bright blue, green and orange when she was here to work on Carol's quilt. I went through my stash to pull the other colors in & another co-worker/friend... my #2 Maria came over one weekend to help me pick the embroidery.

Well I am having issues with my computer and trying to get this edited.... so think I will quilt for a few days ~

There will be some changes coming soon ~ LOL, as soon as I can get organized ;-)

Doc is teaching me Picasa ~ I am trying to remember all of that he is saying ~ yes the key word there is TRYING! Hopefully before the end of May I will have 3 slide shows posted ~ maybe even more!! When I learn it, and it is up and running, it will be really cool. OK maybe it will be more like the end of summer ~ but hey ~ I need to set my goals right???

LOL ~I set goals for myself all the time .... sometimes I even get things done that are on the list :-) For example, my list that I made for myself EARLY yesterday morning for the things I needed to get done this weekend ~ well it is 7PM on Sunday night and I have about 1/4 of my list crossed off. Wow that is'nt very good is it ...... I really need to get on the stick!!

This past week has been really busy for me. I finished 2 quilts for Pam, and another lady called me that I quilted for last Dec. She brought me a quilt that needs to be all finished by this coming Thursday, including the binding. Well the quilting is done ~ it's squared up and I am almost 3/4 of the way around with the binding. Yea me!!

OK so dinner is ready ~ so I better get. But after dinner I AM GOING BACK DOWNSTAIRS but just to finish 1 more thing on my list..... OK maybe 2 more things. LOL ~ OK, maybe I am dreaming again.

Welcome friends to snowy West Valley :-)

Yesterday I thought was a bit chilly, but actually 70* and this morning we woke up to snow :-) I love the surprises we get here in Utah! Speaking of surprises just 6 hours after taking these 2 pictures... and a few more for good measure.....

This is what happened... the sun came out .... the sky was blue The Easter flag uncurled.... Then it snowed again LOL. All in all it was a beautiful day! Let me see... in the way of quilting ~ I finished 2 quilts for Pam since last weekend, and when she came to pick them up, she left 2 with me. Yesterday I finished another for her and today got another one started. I was hoping to have it finished for her to pick up tomorrow... but alas ~ problems with the tension again. Oh and speaking of finished quilts.... here is the brown dinosaur quilt that I finished a week ago. It has been delivered to the parents-to-be and I have been told that they love it. Now if I could just find the backing for the red & blue dinos, I would be thrilled! That picture will have to wait for a while though ~ got too much going on right now to fret over that one :-) Well it is getting late and I need to get up and go to work tomorrow.... the weekends just fly by too darn fast!! Where have I been.... what have I been doing???

The answers to these and other questions will be coming up after these messages.... JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

The answer is nothing really special ~

I have been here at home.. and at work ~ I have been working at work... and at home either quilting, watching TV, or reading I have read about 12 books and a couple short stories ~ all on my Pandigital and I am still loving it!!! All the books so far have been the right price... FREE!!!!

I have had quilts that I have been working on for clients, 3 finished and 4 left to do. Finished the brown dinosaur quilt finally ~ still waiting to wash and deliver that one... the blue dinosaur quilt top is finished but need to find the right flannel for the back of it (so that one is on hold, pictures to come later). The last time I posted, I told you about a friend being diagnosed with breast cancer ~ I have designed a quilt for her and some of our co-workers have been coming by since the first week in Feb to help make the blocks. I finished the borders last Friday night ... OK so it was 1:55 AM Saturday morning(what's a few hours when you are doing something you enjoy!). I got it loaded on the long arm last weekend and was up till 1AM again last night ~ but managed to get the quilting finished and the binding sewn on. Today and tomorrow I will spend my time... making the label, hand stitching the binding ~ HOPEFULLY washing it and getting it ready to present to her, but first I need to get the photo album ready that will go along with it. That and working on taxes, laundry, and loading up another client quilt, and I guess it is time to get that KSL add back up and running! I have got to get that $$ coming in somehow! :-) I will be trying to get more classes up and running again so if you know of anyone that wants to learn to make a quilt I am a pretty good teacher ~ and lots of fun to have around!! Stacy & Violet have been in Florida visiting her Dad and his fiancee, and some of her friends for the last 2 weeks ~ they will be going home on Wed of next week. Violet... normally a very happy girl has been a bit less than that during their vacation .... What is with her and Grandpa anyhow?

Even taking a snooze in the car she looks unhappy.... check out them fists!!

She mellows out a bit for her pool time though, she ALMOST looks happy.

Well now that it is nearly lunch time, I will stop and get me some cereal ~ watch a couple episodes of NCIS & Young Riders with Doc and get back to work on the quilt. You all take care and as always ~ find a way to be creative and enjoy!!

OK so I know it has been a while again since my last post..... Christmas has come and gone..... and now New Years as well. I know I have asked this before.... but WHERE does time go???

I have been keeping myself really busy ~ missing my girls .... work..... movies & TV with Doc... quilting and reading. Yep I said reading.... something I always loved growing up and even after I had Stacy I loved reading. Well I totally splurged and bought myself a Pandigital E-Reader.... I have already finished my first book on it and even picked up the book on my bedside table and started reading that too. Great thing to have...and you can even get FREE books at Barnes & Noble..... Downloaded while you still look! AMAZING!!!

Oh and for those Embroidery Machine owners out there.... a new client told me about this incredible website..... $6.00 a month for as many designs as you want. FUN STUFF!!!! http://www.embroiderydk.com/ the day I paid my first $6.00 I downloaded 138 designs .... but I am NOT addicted....... no I'm really not.

I finished all the quilts for my supervisor by the second week in December..... got them all delivered and then the final customer quilt was finished on 12/21... WHEW!

Now I get to do the quilts that I have fallen behind with :-) ...... I finished one for a former quilting student.... she is having her first baby..... SOON!!! I am so happy for her and her hubby ~ they have been trying for a long time and this little angel has no clue what a great set of parents she is going to have. So here is the quilt I made for her, I finished this one on Christmas day. Two of the lady bugs on here came from that website :-)

Then I took a 4 day breather before starting in on my next endeavors. Once again I have turned to the coolest website, my next 2 quilts have the same theme......and use the same pattern ~
these are for boys so we have dinosaurs!!! In looking at my stash I decided to do the first one in browns.... HOLY COW!!!! It is so cute, I started cutting out the fabric on 12/31 at like 7:30 AM and had the top together along with 3 of the 5 embroidery designs before going to bed .... just after midnight. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Now I need to go get something for the backing..... but first need to start another one ~ this one is for the cousin of the brown one..... so it will have dinos on it too...... but in shades of blue with red and the dinos will match :-). It is a work in progress.... but I am HOPING to have the top together by mid week and get the embroidery done by the weekend....

LOL wish me luck on that one!!! I know there are a lot of holes on this one ~ but the TV is covered with pieces of fabric ;-) Once I get

the top together for this one I am off to the first of 2 client quilts for January.

Oh did I mention that this week is month end at work???? LOL WHERE can I buy more time.... and how do I pay for it?

Well I better get back to that fabric on the TV ~ need to get a few more rows put together. Oh shoot... laundry.... aghhhhhhhhhhhhh I am out of here!!!

HOLY COW!! Where has the time gone?

WOW the last post was back in September???? HOW did that happened??
I am so sorry..... I didn't think I had been THAT busy!
Let's see... WHAT HAVE I been doing??

September brought Doc's birthday ~ our Anniversary ~ my birthday & a bone density test. Not so much other than working full time :-)

October: 1) card class @ Carol's 2) quilt dropped off via referral from a lady I quilted for last year 3) not 1 ... but 2 biopsies of the lump in my neck 4) the Cancer Walk at Liberty Park (my supervisor Carol was just diagnosed with breast cancer) 5) got a call last month from a lady up in Layton that needed assistance with her long arm (she has the same set up that I have)
6) Carol dropped off 3 quilts 7) quilt from above #2 picked up 8) I finished a baby quilt for a lady that brought over blocks that her 3 X great grandmother made 9) Maria ... AKA #2 (from work) came over to work on the Pooh quilt that we started for Ethan's Birthday (her son) 10) appointment with a new Dr. I haven't had an ENT since leaving CA 5 years ago. Turns out this one agrees with me... the lump in my neck needs to GO! 11) rock chip in my windshield on the way home from work.... STUPID TRUCK! Now THAT had to be replaced. They even came out to my work to do it!!! YEAH :-) 12) got 1 of Carol's quilts finished and took it to work 13) baked Halloween cookies to take to work for the Halloween party ~ our team dressed as the People from WalMart SO FUNNY!!!
Now that November is nearly over.....
I spent 6 fun filled rushing days with my girls in Oregon. I arrived on 11/4 Violet's birthday, the next day Stacy's Dad (Bill) arrived, Saturday was Violet's Birthday party, Sunday was another party for Esther (foster daughter of Jeremy's mom & step dad) then to dinner with a friend of S & J. Monday brought a dental appointment for Violet, followed up with her 1 year check up with her Pediatrician. I am sure that you will be thrilled to know that she is now 31" long and weighs 21.3# she is in the upper 92% for her height and right where she should be for weight. Tuesday was the flight home for both me and grandpa Bill. Very sad day for me ~ I love my girls so much and miss them terribly every day! Oh while at the Portland airport I realized that I left my camera in Salem..... no pics to prove I was there :-( So back to work for me on Wed. Carol brought me 2 more quilts at work & I had 2 quilts dropped off from my KSL add that are to be delivered in January, Thanksgiving day morning was spent watching stuff with Doc then downstairs to finish up Carol's quilts and in the last 2 days have finished the other 2 (of 3) quilts that Carol dropped off last month. Carol had her surgery last Monday, so far she is doing well her sister and 2 of her daughters have been taking wonderful care of her this past week. Oh and her sister came over last night to pick up the 2 quilts.... now I only have 2 left for her... got them both embroidered last night and one is on the long arm. My goal for this weekend.... to finish the quilting on that one and get the binding at least cut for it. I have a class to teach today ~ Julie will be here at 10 so need to get moving I guess.

So I PROMISE to do better in the future.... will post weekly.... I HOPE :-)

Fun day but busy!!!

Julie was here for her class.... Yes I got a pic!!! SEE~~~>

She has done a great job and will be back in October to start her filler blocks.

When she left here I packed up and headed to see another Julie ~ she was having a "Close To My Heart" party. For those of you ... like me that had never heard of it ~ check it out on line!! They have SUCH COOL STUFF!!!!! Scrap booking to the max for sure!

Anyhow had a great time and then back home :-) I finished the ripping on the T-shirt quilt and started stitching the borders ~ more than half way finished with it before turning in for the night :-)

Today is hair dying, laundry, TV with Doc & finishing that quilt getting it ready for pick up on Monday! Guess I better get moving huh???

WOW ~ time has really flown by!
Where has it gone?
What have I been doing?
work... home.....work.... home......work... home... I think I see a pattern here :-/

I really haven't done much...... I dyed my hair on Labor day (it really needs to be done again!!)
Got 2 quilts dropped off.... well 1 top ... and 43 grand mothers flower garden blocks. I need to get the blocks sewn into a top next week..... and the completed top.... well need to add sides to it so that I can straighten it up before quilting it. I really need to learn to look at quilt tops, and blocks better before agreeing to finish them for people!!! WHEN will I learn?

I did finish Violet's Elmo quilt for her birthday.... and bought my tickets for Oregon. Can you believe that Violet will be 1 in less than 6 weeks????

A friend of a friend/neighbor brought over a T-shirt quilt that she made.... it is on the H/Q now... talked to her today and promised that it would be finished by the end of the weekend. I just need about 4 hours on it and it will be ready :-)

Doc's Birthday week ~I respected his wishes and did nothing for his B.D. this year.... I really miss not having a B.D. for him :-(. I understand why he doesn't want to celebrate his birthday.... on his birthday..... but, oh well he will never change his mind on this so I will just give up. Our anniversary was just a couple days later ~ 7 years. Just another example of time flying!!

I did manage to get a teeny bit of quilting done on the Amish quilt before I had to take it off the H/Q (by the way ~ if ANYONE can come up with a good name for her...my quilting machine.... let me know!! ) I also started hand quilting the falling leaves wall hanging ~ for a few nights the first week I averaged 1 leaf a night. Then I took it downstairs for some reason.... and haven't touched it since. OOPS!

Hair cut on the 18th..... along with a card class @ Carol's .... then came home and Carol and her sister Janita came over for a "binding 101" class. Oh and I got a call from a lady that lives up in Layton this week. She wants me to drive up there and help her with HER H/Q. She has the identical set up to mine. I have scheduled her for a Saturday in Oct.

That brings us to this week...more of the work... home stuff with the addition of a dental appointment... time spent at the hospital for an ultra sound on my birthday. More work ... home stuff, and HEY IT HAS been 4 weeks! Almost forgot... now I need to have a biopsy done, will this fun NEVER END???

So tomorrow I have a class at 10 for the Snowman Quilt. I will try to get pics of Julie's quilt and post it... she is doing such a good job!! Then as soon as her class is over I need to drive out to Herriman for a Scrap book party at my bosse's house. Then back home to FINISH the T-shirt quilt!!! Then it will be Sunday and I will be doing laundry ~ and sewing the grand mothers flower garden blocks together. Oh and did I mention that it is month end at work??? SHOOT ME NOW!!!

OK off to watch another episode of MISSING with Doc ~

Another week has come and gone.... AGAIN ~~~~
Where has the time gone?
Let me see, last week I told you about the "needle set screw" on my HQ. Well as luck would have it, I didn't break it :-) good thing! I ordered a replacement for it and even though it took an entire week to get to me .... with a little effort it is now functioning again YIPPEE... have I used it yet.... not so much, got too much else going on! But here is a pic of what I did get done last weekend before the screw incident. Yeah I know... this quilt is going to take a LONG TIME to get finished!

Since I couldn't work on the HQ last weekend I had to do something creative.... so I started working on a little birthday quilt for Violet :-) The top is finished, and I am quilting it on my Janome 11000 ~ so here it is ~ oh, I should tell you that Miss Violet LOVES Elmo..... so I HAD to get this fabric!! I have it almost 1/2 way quilted and HOPE to have it finished by next weekend ~ YIPPEE it's gonna be a 3 day weekend!!!! Anyhow the quilting on this lil thing consists of stitch in a ditch along the verticle lines.... and around the stars too ~ oh and I have penciled in more stars that will just get quilted around. The binding will be the pink that is around most of the outer edge. It is going to be really cute when finished. Did I mention that Violet LOVES Elmo??? The reason ~ well a picture is worth a thousand words right??

Other projects that are SUPPOSED to be getting done this weekend

and next???? I will be teaching a class in September, so I need to get

the sample done. I am doing it as a wall hanging but I think most of my

students are doing a table runner. I have the pattern & fabrics ready to start on. As you can see by this pic..... I am READY!

I also went to Joann’s and found the backing for a

Christmas quilt that I did back in 2000 as a block

of the month "Snowman Collector".....

think this backing is going to look great....

so does my little helper Janome.

Oh and some fabric that I bought in CA back in the late 90's... well I knew, and bought this with a specific pattern in mind.... and now I really am going to make it!!! Two of my former class mates from Helen's class wanted to know if I remembered how to make this.... and I sort of do but will make my 3rd one and write to them to let them know the results. So that would be #5 in line I guess ~ LOL sorry about the pattern napping..... I am having problems turning things right now... maybe later I will be able to figure it out :-)

OK I need to finish laundry…. and get downstairs ~ so till next time …

Another weekend ......

Well I have good news ... and bad news ~ I managed to get the back of the Amish quilt finished last Sunday ... and loaded on the HQ, just like I had hoped. Then suddenly the thread started snapping .... and snapping .... did I say snapping? It took me about 3 hours to get a small 3' X 18" strip quilted. Called Gayla for some words of wisdom Monday evening she came out after work to see what was wrong ... seems at some point I BOKE MY SCREW! (Needle set screw that is) I have evidently tightened it too much so have been (im)patiently waiting for the arrival of a new one .... and HOPING that a new screw is all she needs. So till I get her up and running again I am "dead in the water" ~ but finding other things to keep me somewhat out of trouble.

I have made my first SOCK MONKEY, which I can hear Mom laughing about. It is very small ..... has mismatched ears .... and the tail is fatter than the legs .... OOPS!! But hey I tried .... and with the directions that came with this... well lets just say it could have turned out a lot worse! I figure that if I make a couple more of them ~ maybe the one for Violet's Birthday might even look like a sock monkey.

Today I went to a card making class... it really is addicting.... I DON'T NEED TO BE ADDICTED TO THIS TOO!!!! But so fun ~ Class is once a month at my supervisor & her sister's place $10.00 for 10 cards .... takes about 3 hours to get them done ~ really FUN!

Well I am off to watch a movie with hubby ~ you all have a great weekend!!

I did it!!!! Here is a pic of the finished quilt top ~

This puppy is HUGE!! This week I hope to get the backing sewn together so that I can load it onto the HQ next weekend.

Sorry about last week friends ~
It sort of came and went and no news from MY Time 2 Quilt.
Well let me try to recap for you ~
Work has been a bit hectic.... month end + lots of hours + refinancing the house = no time for quilts :-(
Now that I have managed to make it to another weekend I WILL finish that darn quilt top!!!
I did manage to get all the vertical sashing done for the blocks 2 weeks ago, and 1/2 of the horizontal sashing (4 rows sewn together) I am HOPING that I still have time this evening to get down there and get 2 rows together before coming up for an evening of TV with hubby...... Good plan ~ wonder if it will work :-) Oh and NEXT weekend I plan on posting the finished top (fingers crossed) My ultimate goal ~ is to have that darn quilt on the HQ before the end of the month..... yeah me!!

What are the plans for MY Time 2 Quilt for the next 48 hours?

Well, there is a quilt on the design wall .... it is one that got started YEARS ago when I was "working" for AOL. As a "board monitor" There had been no activity for weeks on the board, so I started up a block swap.... but not just any block swap ~ this is an Amish swap. There were 8 ladies that chose to participate, each making 7 matching blocks. Well this was back in 2001 I think... and I am FINALLY going to get my top together, right after I make 1 more block!

So, in answer to my question.....I will be working on getting this quilt top put together. I have almost 2 full days to do it, so do it I shall!

LOL ~ I know it's really REALLY colorful!!

Well, till I get back with the finished top to show ~ happy quilting to all and to all a good night.

The plan is to head over to Joann's for a little show and tell.

I bought some fabric there a couple weeks ago for a class that I plan on teaching in Sept.

Here is the wall hanging :-) I told the cutting lady I would come show her... so off to Joann's it is!!

Anyone that is interested in the class let me know!! It will be on Sept 18, 2010 ~ here at the HQ of MY Time 2 Quilt in West Valley City, Utah.

For now I have to get going ~ Take care and happy quilting!!
